Does this work when the artist turned downloads off?
Yes. The site reads the same image the deviation page itself serves, at the resolution DeviantArt publishes it. It does not unlock a private original that the artist never made public.
Do I need a DeviantArt account?

Does mature content work?
Yes, mature deviations resolve the same way as everything else.
Can it download video?
Yes. Film and animation deviations return direct MP4 files, usually up to 1080p. Video is rare on DeviantArt, so most links you paste will be images.
